Messianic synagogues should embrace lay led models of government. In contrast to most evangelical and by extension current messianic models, “authority” would be divided between an elected board, a president, a chazzan, and a rabbi.
The board should be responsible for the overall day to day affairs of the synagogue and the financial administration of the congregation.
The rabbi and chazzan should address the ritual concerns and needs of the community. The community however should be the key determining factor in regards to major decisions and the spiritual direction of the shul. I say this largely in response to the purported “apostolic” models afforded by most messianic congregations, where authority exists in the hands of one or a few individuals with little or no real accountability to the congregation.
With the absence of real rabbis, boards should function as the administrative and spiritual oversight of each community.

can you speak about how the term Rabbi has been exploited by messinics?
